In 2533 the unthinkable happened. The earth’s fossil fuel supply ran out, far sooner than had been predicted. Soon wind turbines, solar panels, and nuclear reactors began to litter the landscape. Yet it still was not enough demand kept rising, fuel was becoming scarce. The Earth’s government, The Federation of United Nations, a body similar to the U.N. began to ration fuel, causing a massive uproar. Many of the smaller nations, who were being ignored for many years, broke away from the Federation. The formed their own coalition calling themselves the Severed. They used guerilla tactics, and the weapons the Federation had so generously supplied them with, to steal fuel and commandeer power plants. In response to the constant warfare, the Federation formed the Valor Guard. A group composed of the best of the best of the federations various special forces teams. They were tasked with stopping the Severed and keeping control of the Federations assets. Just as the constant warring seemed fit to tear apart society, a light appeared on the horizon.
Alien life had landed on earth, they had not come for war. They came to help. The aliens called themselves the Energy Empire. They were lead by Baron Fearless. They brought with them plans and equipment to build plants that could solve the fuel crisis. The plants would extract an extremely potent energy source from the bodies of the recently deceased, or from those still living. Though extracting from living tissue provided nearly five times as much energy. It held a high risk of causing a massive explosion, similar in size and destructive power to a small nuclear warhead. The aliens called this energy source Monstar. The Federation though excited about the thought of solving the crisis, did not trust the Baron and turned him down. Thus the Baron turned to the Severed, who accepted the Baron’s offer without hesitation.
Soon many of the Severed’s cities were fully powered and at nearly zero cost. However The Federation had been researching possible solutions for many years prior to the crisis. They had finally discovered a mineral, buried deep within the moon that was capable of similar energy output to that of Monstar. By 2568 The federation had bio-engineered a group to mine this mineral, which they called Citrix, due to it’s brilliant orange color. So both groups on earth now had access to a new fuel source, yet they continued to war with one another. The Federation and the Valor Guard, due to their fear of the alien technology, and the Severed because of The Federations oppression of another race.
However in 2575, another race of aliens landed. They called themselves The Ravens. They had been pursuing The Baron Fearless for theft of classified technology and other criminal behavior. However upon landing on earth to find the Severed not only using this equipment, but reproducing it too, and The Federation enslavement of “their” bio-engineered race. The Ravens deemed Earth in violation of some universal treaty they had never read or agreed to be a part of, and began a campaign to remove the stolen technology and free the Citrix miners. The Baron went into hiding somewhere on Earth, because if he left the Ravens would be able to send for back-up to take him down.
Thus the energy wars began. With The Federation looking to rid the earth of the Severed and their alien tech, The Severed, looking to end the unfair reign of the Federation and to free the oppressed miners, ant The Ravens of Justice looking to bring justice to earth, by destroying the stolen equipment and freeing the slaves of The Federation.
